Say Goodbye to Period Stains: Easy Steps to Restore Your Favorite Undies
We've all been there - an unexpected visit from Aunt Flo leaves a mark on your favourite pair of undies, and panic sets in. But fret not! With a little quick action and these simple steps, you can make your underwear look as good as new.
- Act quickly: The sooner you address the stain, the easier it will be to remove. Rinse the stained area with cold water as soon as possible. Avoid using warm or hot water as it can set the stain.
- Pre-treat the stain: After rinsing the underwear, apply a small amount of mild detergent or stain remover directly to the stained area. Gently rub the fabric together to work the detergent into the stain.
- Soak the underwear: Fill a bucket or sink with cold water and add a small amount of mild detergent. Place the stained underwear in the solution and let it soak for at least 30 minutes. You can gently agitate the water occasionally to help loosen the stain.
- Hand wash or machine wash: After soaking, you can either hand wash the underwear by gently rubbing the fabric together or wash it in a washing machine using a cold water setting. Follow the care instructions on the garment label.
- Check the stain: Once the wash cycle is complete, check the stain. If it's still visible, avoid drying the underwear, as heat can set the stain further. Instead, repeat the steps above or try using a stain remover specifically designed for protein-based stains like blood.
- Wash as usual: Once the stain is removed or significantly reduced, you can wash the underwear as you normally would, following the care instructions on the garment label.
It's worth noting that some fabrics and colours may be more challenging to remove stains from, so it's best to address the stain as soon as possible and avoid using hot water or heat until the stain is fully gone.
